3 What is it to be born-again?

In John 3 a man named Nicodemus came to Jesus in the evening. Jesus speaks with him about the need of being born again.

John 3:3 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”

First the man didn’t understand what it means but when Jesus explains him He said:

John 3:5–6 Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. 6 Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.

Something spiritual must be born inside of us that is given by the Holy Spirit. Jesus explains that this spiritual work is been worked in us when we open our heart for the Word of God.

John 6:63 The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

Born-again means receiving a new heart and spirit where be become children of God.

John 1:12–13 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13 They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.

There is no hope if we are not born-again. Jesus said that this is the only way into heaven.

You can also read James 1:18 and 1 Peter 1:23-25 and of course many more scriptures speak about this miracle in our hearts. If you want to become born-again come to one of our church services. We always give an invitation for those that want to be born again. Jesus wants to do this miracle in your heart.
